This 6-week writing boot camp will take you through all the fundamentals of writing for Middle Grade and Young Adult readers and get you started on your book. Topics covered include what readers expect, honing your concept/pitch, voice & character, novel structure, crafting snappy dialogue and more. Plus, you’ll receive generative writing exercises designed to get you started drafting your book. By the last class, you’ll also gain insight into querying agents and the submission process from a successful MG/YA author. Plan to come away from this 6-week workshop with practical skills and tools for how to craft a successful book.


YOUR INSTRUCTOR: JENNIFER BRODY / VERA STRANGE is the author of the popular "Disney Chills" book series featuring Disney villains, "The 13th Continuum" trilogy, and the Stoker Finalist "Spectre Deep 6" and Otherwise Award Nominated "200," prompting Forbes to call Brody “a star in the graphic novel world.” She is the co-author of "Star Wars: Stories of Jedi & Sith" middle grade anthology, where she penned the Darth Vader story. Her short fiction will appear in Weird Tales and several forthcoming anthologies. She’s a graduate of Harvard University, a film/TV producer and writer, and a creative writing instructor. She began her career in Hollywood working for A-List directors and movie studios on many films, including “The Lord of the Rings" films, “The Golden Compass,” and “Inkheart,” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
