We live in the midst of a digital revolution. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter - these are just a few of the ways we communicate virtually. As writers, what can we do to improve our chances of getting published? Join the movement and build a platform.
Blogging is a fantastic tool for writers who wish to create social presence and get noticed by readers and book publishing professionals. Now more than ever, writers have unlimited opportunities to connect with their audience by writing online. Publishers consider a successful blog to be a testimony to the writer’s skill and quality of work, and book deals are often offered to writers who develop vibrant and compelling online content. The book industry is saturated, and a writer who can show a following of loyal readers stands out from the crowd.
This class will focus on everything from starting a blog to making an existing one more successful. We will also discuss what makes blogging an appealing and comfortable way for writers to make genuine connections with readers and publishers.
Your Instructor: Oksana Marafioti is the author of American Gypsy: A Memoir (FSG, 2012).
